Sleep cycles

SLEEP CYCLE
The sleep cycle can be divided into 5 phases. Every night the sleep cycle is completed 4 to 5 times. The distinction between the phases in each cycle is based on brain activity and eye movement, called "eye movement". In the first 4 phases, the eye movement is slow, the so-called Non Rapid Eye Movement (NREM) phases. In the 5th and last phase there is rapid eye movement, which is why this phase is called REM sleep (Rapid Eye Movement).

Phase 1 (NREM1)
This is the transition phase between waking and sleeping. The eyes become heavy and the eye movement slows down. In addition, brain activity slowly decreases so that someone eventually falls asleep. Most people with normal sleep stay in this phase for about five minutes.

Phase 2 (NREM2)
In this phase there is a light sleep and the start of real sleep. The body relaxes even more. The sleeper can still be awakened, but not as easily as in phase 1. Phase 2 lasts about 45 minutes.

Phase 3 (NREM3)
This is the transition phase from light sleep to deep sleep. The breathing and heartbeat become regular and the muscles are completely relaxed. This phase lasts 3 to 8 minutes.

Phase 4 (NREM4)
In the 4th phase of the NREM, there is real deep sleep. The body has decreased breathing and heart rhythm. Physical recovery takes place during this phase that lasts about 15 to 18 minutes.

Stage 5 (REM sleep)
In REM sleep, the dreaming takes place and the
dane information of the day. There is rapid eye movement and high brain activity. A lot is happening physically. As a result, this phase costs energy. REM sleep lasts about 18 to 24 minutes. After REM sleep, the sleeper awakens consciously or unconsciously and starts
sleep cycle again.

Trust nature!
Medication can help improve the sleep problem or sleep disorder. Unfortunately, many prescribed sleep medications
Medicines have two major drawbacks: They are highly addictive and have many side effects.

There are several natural sleep aids that work effectively for sleep problems and most of them are scientifically proven. The advantage is that they are not addictive and have hardly any side effects. However, it often takes longer before they are effective. So keep that in mind, it is not a quick fix.
